The Post-Secondary Bridge: Navigating the Next Horizon

The transition from clinical stability to a functional adult life is often stalled by the pressure of "what's next." Traditional career planning can feel overwhelming and premature for young adults recovering from trauma, anxiety, or addiction.

Odyssey TLC provides a low-pressure, high-information environment for Post-Secondary Exploration. We don't ask our students to commit to a lifelong career; we provide them with the navigational tools to explore their natural aptitudes and identify a sustainable next step—whether that is a trade, specialized certification, higher education, or direct entry into the workforce.

We recognize that the transition to adulthood doesn't happen in a textbook. Every individual processes information differently, and for those recovering from trauma or cognitive fatigue, a "one-size-fits-all" approach is a barrier to success. We utilize the VARK model to ensure our curriculum is accessible and engaging for every type of learner:

Course Modules:

Aptitudes:

Rather than interest-based surveys that fluctuate with mood, we use performance-based aptitudes. This reveals "Natural Talents" that the student (and often the parent) may have never identified, providing an objective foundation for confidence.

Learning Style:

By identifying a student's VARK profile early in the 8-week class, we help them narrow their Post-Secondary search. A "Kinesthetic" learner might find their purpose in a high-precision trade, while a "Read/Write" learner might flourish in a traditional university setting. We don't just help them find a path; we help them find a path that speaks their language.

Interests:

Students explore the four primary domains of human contribution: People, Things, Data, and Creativity. This helps them see "work" as a way to bring their whole self to the world, rather than just a job title.

Prototyping:

Using Human-Centered Design, we treat post-secondary options as "prototypes" to be investigated. This allows students to "try on" different paths—like a specific trade or a college major—in a safe, mentored studio environment before making a financial or emotional investment. request

Personality:

We utilize the Understand Myself model to move beyond superficial labels and into the two distinct aspects of each personality factor. This is an optional but highly strategic layer of the Odyssey Program that provides a blueprint for self-regulation and environment-matching
